Celebrating
175 Years
of Christian Ministry
to Bennettsville,
Marlboro County
and the world!
The celebration of the founding of First United Methodist Church, Bennettsville, was celebrated on Sunday, April 26, 2009 -- and what a great day we experienced!!
The worship service celebrated the 175 years of ministry by Methodists in Bennettsville. A brief skit depicting the historical beginning of Methodism in Marlboro County was be featured.
A special feature of the worship service was the sermon by our residing bishop, Rev. Mary Virginia Taylor.
The day continued with a covered dish luncheon in the Methodist Family Center, where great fellowship around the tables helped many catch up on friendships forged at First UMC.
The day concluded with The Gathering, our informal non-traditional worship service in The Gathering Room.
God has richly blessed our church, and with great hope we look to the present and future ministries of the church in this city. New members are being added, and a new day is being celebrated as we find new ways of ministering the unchanging Gospel of Jesus Christ!
